Cinderella’s Closet History
Cinderella’s Closet helps make dreams come true for local teenagers by offering prom gowns, and accessories, for a low cost. When the average price tag for a prom gown can be upwards of $250, Cinderella’s Closet ensures that costs associated with attending prom are not a financial burden on a family by offering the gown shopping experience at no more than $15-$20.
Thankful to the local Junior League of Williamsport, who created Cinderella’s Closet in 2008, the event has greatly impacted many of our local teenagers by providing means to a magical experience. Serving more and more girls each year, The Junior League partnered with the YWCA Northcentral PA’s The Boutique to host Cinderella’s Closet within the walls of the YWCA in 2019 and officially passed the event onto The Boutique at the conclusion of that prom season.
Prom Gowns
Going to Prom and needing an affordable gown?
Located within the YWCA at 815 West 4th Street, Williamsport PA, Cinderella’s Closet is open to all high school students, including those attending cyber or homeschooling classes. Students must present a school ID or proof of enrollment to participate. (One dress per student and student must be present at time of purchase) The event, hosted annually for prom season, is by appointment ONLY.

Once the appointment is scheduled, a Fairy Godmother will be assigned. Fairy Godmothers are community volunteers who take on the role of a personal shopper, providing Royal Treatment for all teenagers served. As they help navigate the endless racks of gowns, set up fitting rooms, offer feedback and encouragement and answer any questions that arise, they work diligently to ensure each young lady served is treated like the princess she is. Each Fairy Godmother wants nothing more than to help young ladies find that perfect dress.
**For the 2024 Prom Season, Cinderella’s Closet will be offered every Thursday and Saturday March 2 through May 4 by appointment ONLY. Thursdays 3pm-6pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm. Appointments are one hour long and begin on the hour.**
The event offers 100s of dresses in sizes ranging in all sizes, an assortment of shoes, jewelry, purses, and other accessories to ensure every young lady has the opportunity to find she can feel beautiful and confident.
The cost to receive the Royal Treatment ranges $15 to $20, which in turn benefits the programs offered by the YWCA Northcentral PA.

Donations
Dresses, gowns, and accessories are collected throughout each year. Items are donated by members from all over our community. Cinderella’s Closet has even been the recipient of donations from outside of the state. Donations are accepted anytime during YWCA business hours Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm.
