The YWCA Northcentral PA’s Wise Options Program offers Rapid Re-housing to individuals experiencing homelessness as a result of escaping violence. Rapid re-housing, a funded initiative through the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), provides short-term and emergency rental assistance and aims to ensure those finding themselves homeless as they flee abuse can find safety and security in a residence of their own. Not only are Wise Option’s clients eligible to receive Rapid Re-housing financial assistance, but they are also provided intensive case management by the staff of the YWCA Northcentral PA.
If you are experiencing homelessness due to victimization or have fled a violent situation, call 2-1-1 to be connected to a Rapid Re-Housing representative.
Olivia and her son lived in fear of Olivia's boyfriend who was abusive towards both of them. They sought counseling services with Wise Options where they learned about Rapid Re-Housing. Together with their compassionate counselor, they dialed 2-1-1 and were then accepted into an emergency shelter. Olivia and her son moved into Wise Option's emergency shelter until they found their perfect place out in the country where they could truly feel safe. The mother-son duo said they are so happy in their new home thanks to the help of the YWCA.
