Donating to the YWCA means so much more than you know. When you donate, a homeless woman gets shelter. A women suffering from domestic violence feels safe again. Also, many of the women who come through our doors have young, scared children with them. They have very little when they come to us and we give them the things they need. They create better lives and have the ability to live on their own safely from the help and hope the YWCA and its donors give them.
With three options to choose from, you choose where your money goes. Shelter and prevention of homelessness, emergency shelter and services for victims, or where the funds are needed most. Wise Options and Liberty House are the two main priorities for funding but we send your donation to where you choose.
While we appreciate money donations, there are other things to give as well. If you prefer, there is a list of items that we will accept. This includes:
- lightly worn clothing
- non-perishable foods
- diapers and wipes
- new or gently used toys
- dishes, pots, pans, flatware
- towels and wash cloths
- sanitary items
***Things like shampoo, conditioner and soaps make our residents so happy.
Donations that are NOT accepted:
Many used items, such as car seats, pillows or mattresses, rugs or carpets, electronics of any kind, stuffed animals, travel toiletry, or makeup are the items we cannot take.
We also take sanitary items, socks, hats and gloves for the Hut of Hope. This little gem sits at the front of the YWCA property for those that need something, like toothpaste, and do not have the funds to pay for it.
Our Boutique, a cute little shop, contains all kinds of things to wear. The Boutique also takes donations of new or gently worn clothing for men, women and children. New or lightly used shoes, handbags, and accessories are also accepted.
Above all, we want to thank you for any type of donation you are willing to give. It allows our residents to live in safety and comfort.
