Creations of Courage
Once a week, the YWCA has volunteer seamstresses that come into the building. They make creations that are then sold to the public. The funds made on these creations go to the YWCA clients to give them things they need, like soaps, deodorant, sometimes clothing and shoes. The money is distributed to where it is needed most in our programming.
The clients in our Liberty House and Wise Options programs come to us with next to nothing. They have the clothes they are wearing and sometimes have a child with them. Our Liberty House residents have battled with addiction and suffer homelessness as a result of that addiction. The Wise Options clients are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. Wise Options helps both men and women while Liberty House is strictly for women.
The funds from Creations of Courage allow these individuals to pursue legal services, receive advice on child raising and child support options, job hunting, assistance with finding a new home, clothing, groceries, and much more.
With several places to purchase these creations, we encourage you to check them out. They can be found at Rust and Shine in Williamsport, second floor. There is a collection of creations that sit on a table to browse and purchase. There is also a select number at Patinaz Boutique.
Occasionally you can find us the Williamsport Grower’s Market, but those times will be announced via our social media pages.
