FAQs about donating to The Boutique
Q: What donations do you accept at The Boutique?
A: Primarily, the YWCA Boutique accepts donations of women’s, children’s and men’s clothing and accessories – like shoes, jewelry, handbags and scarves. We accept clothing for casual, work and formal occasions. We sell everything from bras and shapewear to wintercoats and mittens.
Q: What about housewares?
A: The Boutique cannot sell electronics, bedding or towels. We can sell small items like photo frames, vases and jewelry boxes. Items like dishes, flatware or like-new towels can be donated to be used for women who move from the YWCA programs to their own apartments.
Q: When can I bring donations to the YWCA Boutique?
Donations can be brought to the YWCA during regular business hours – Monday-Friday 8am – 5:30 pm or during Boutique store hours.
If you bring donations during The Boutique hours (Wed: 3pm -6pm; Thurs & Fri: 11am – 5pm; Sat: 9am-1pm) – the front and back doors of the building will be unlocked. During any other business hours, you will need to enter the building up the ramp at the back door to be buzzed in. If you need help bringing your donation into the building, someone is available to help you. If you call us at (570) 322-4637, ext. 100 before heading over, we will do our best to have someone meet you at a side door with a cart.
Q: Can I get a receipt?
A: Absolutely! All donations made to the YWCA Northcentral PA and The Boutique are tax deductible and we will gladly provide you with a receipt.
Q: How is my donation used by the YWCA?
A: All items donated to The Boutique are used to benefit individuals in need right here in Lycoming County. Any YWCA program participant can get anything they need from The Boutique free of charge – whether it’s an outfit for a job interview or something as simple as pajamas. Items that are sold generate profit that supports women as they rebuild their lives while overcoming homelessness and violence. Any items that we are not able to sell are donated to other area non-profits who sell or recycle items to support the tireless work of their organizations.
