The third annual Williamsport Over the Edge event will be on Saturday, September 19 at the Genetti Hotel. Each participating individual is raising money to support the YWCA Northcentral PA, River Valley Regional YMCA and/or the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation. Every one who raises at least $1,000 will rappel over the Genetti Hotel.
This is a great chance for those who need a little adventure. Although Covid-19 kept many individuals inside this year, we wanted to make our event happen even more. This is the chance to get out and raise money for three community non-profits. It’s also a pretty fun day so we don’t want you to miss out!
Over the Edge is an event that literally takes people over the edge of a building. This year, we have secured the highest building in Downtown Williamsport: The Genetti Hotel.
We are super excited to show the city of Williamsport the dedication our community members have to raising money for a cause they believe in. People who choose to rappel are allowed creative ways to raise money. And, if they need help, we have some fundraising ideas for you to try!
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Over the Edge has additional safety measures in place for both workers and participants. We also want to add that this event is always safe, with trained members checking the ropes and harnesses every step of the way. They are also great for encouragement for those who are a little unsure of walking down the side of a building.
YWCA staff members are on site throughout the day and some of them even partake in the activity!

Women of Excellence takes place in November. The YWCA has dedicated our work to empowering women since 1893 and we continue to encourage women. Those who have been a major part of our community as leaders, volunteers, and contributors deserve to be recognized. These women are important members of our society and work diligently to make our city a place worth living.
As this is our 12th annual event, we want to continue the tradition. Our event is normally held in person so we can socialize and see the hard work that the Class of 2020 has made in our community. Should this change due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will hold a virtual event in its place.

We encourage all community members to nominate a woman they believe deserves the recognition. All nominations are recognized.
Nomination deadline is Friday, September 4. Please email form to Samantha Kern at firstname.lastname@example.org or mail directly to her at the YWCA, 815 W Fourth St, Williamsport PA 17701.
